World Oceans Day

It's on June 8th every year.
On June 8, 1992, "World Oceans Day" was first proposed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 2008, the United Nations General Assembly decided to designate June 8 as World Oceans Day.
The purpose of this International Day is to inform the public about the impact of human activities on the oceans, promote the global citizen movement to protect the oceans, and mobilize and unite people around the world in a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans.

June 8, 2021 is the 13th World Oceans Day. The theme of World Oceans Day 2021 is "Protecting Marine Biodiversity and Harmonious Co-existence between Man and Nature".



It was first raised in parliament.
On December 5, 2008, the 63rd session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 111, which decided that since 2009, June 8 of each year is "World Oceans Day".
As early as 1992, Canada had already made this proposal at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. Every year, some countries hold unofficial commemorations related to the protection of the Marine environment on this day.
But it wasn't until 2009 that the United Nations officially declared it an official day.

Today, the theme of World Oceans Day is "Our Oceans, Our Responsibilities".
Many maritime countries and regions in the world have their own Ocean Day, such as the European Union's Ocean Day on May 20, Japan will be the third Monday in July determined as the "Sea Day".

The establishment of the "World Oceans Day" provides a platform for the international community to address ocean challenges, and provides a new opportunity to further publicize the importance of the ocean in China and raise public awareness of the ocean.
